Scabies is being taken into the UK by migrants from Calais that have the itchy mites. It is estimated that more than 200 migrants carrying the mites are set to hit the UK. Scabies is highly contagious The condition causes intense itching and rashes, and can be caught by simple skin contact with a carrier.
It is believed that the disease spread due to showers no longer being provided by the charity Secours Catholique. They had to be shut them down as they could no longer cope with the rising number of migrants!
Four local charities are coming together to in an attempt to tackle the problem in Ausgust 2009.
